Abstract: 

The regional problems of socio-economic development in the context of the modern world tendencies, particularly integration and globalization, are considered; the differences between “old” and “new” regionalism are shown. One of the features of “new regionalism” is searching optimal ways of the countries integration into worldwide processes, transition from inter-country cooperation into suprastate level – the level of suprastate regional formations (subregions). The modern forms of subregional cooperation, peculiarities of the Center and the Periphery of the world system and the place of Ukraine in these processes are considered.
