S. Petruk. SMALL URBAN SETTLEMENT UKRAINE: AN ANALYSIS OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATE AND PROBLEMS OF DEVELOPMENT

The approaches of domestic, Russian and Western human geographers to understanding “small urban settlements” conception are analyzed. The features of socio-economic state of small urban settlements and its main problems are considered. The main causes of change the role of small urban settlements in territorial structure of the economy and the settlement system under current conditions are shown.
