Abstract:
The characteristic of the current state of soil cover of Ukraine on the basis of soil examination, monitoring and agrochemical certification of agricultural lands is given. In the last ten years increased rates of soil degradation, including those of black earth type, are observed. The reasons of occurrence are revealed and the development of adverse soil degradation processes (reduction of humus and nutrients, erosion, changes in the acid-alkaline conditions, physical soil degradation, salinization and alkalinization, soil pollution) is shown in the dynamics. The attention is drawn to the need for an updated version of the National Program for Land Conservation and the National Program for the Protection of Soil Fertility.
