I. Chervaniov. RELIEF RESEARCHES BY KHARKIV GEOMORPHOLOGIC SCIENTIFIC SCOOL REPRESENTATIVES

Several generations of Kharkov geomorphologic school scientists made a substantial contribution to general geomorphology and landscape study of a number of regions in Europe and Asia. The pioneer scientific works by N. D. Borysiak and A. Gurov as well as his disciple’s – J.S. Edelstein – the author of the first textbooks on general geomorphology have been reviewed. Also the works by А.Reinhard – A. Penk’s associate, and their follower P.V. Kovalev; the works by Kharkov geomorphologic school founder D. Sobolev as well as works by Ukraine regional geomorphology founder’s N. Dmitriev and finally the structural and historic geomorphologic researches by S. Prokhodsky have been reviewed. During the latest scientific school development stages great attention is paid to the use of GIS-technology and mathematical modeling for geomorphologic analysis. (S.Kostrikov, B.Vorobiov, I.
