Abstract: 

The article contains the results of the first Ukrainian landscape planning project, used in European countries. It is a continuation of a series of publications in UGJ devoted to landscape planning, which was initiated by the German colleagues in 2009. During this period, the landscape program of Cherkassy region has been developed - the first such document created in Ukraine based on the development of European (mainly German) school of landscape planning. The carried out studies and assessments allow to say that there has been improvement in approaches in this sphere, formation of national practices, as well as characteristics and prospects of environmentally oriented planning in Ukraine. The article describes main stages of the work directed on the region landscape program development, their most significant steps have been highlighted and the key concepts and principles of landscape planning have been disclosed. The results of comprehensive territory studies in order to identify and classify the conflicts in nature utilization and management, have been presented, along with the integral concept of the territory development objectives as a basis for decision-making and plans development process on the lower level.
