Abstract: 

The purpose of this study - the development of methodological fundamentals and practice of the region’s natural reserve fund atlas mapping using the example of the atlas-directory called “nature reserve fund of Kiev region” creation. The existing experience of cartographic works on the protected areas at the regional level has been researched. Modern state of the protected areas and objects in Kiev region has been studied and prospects for expanding the protected areas have been outlined. The structure and thematic content of atlas-directory, methods of geo-informational mapping used as well as web visualization content have been reviewed. The attention was focused on the prospects of the further protected areas mapping development. The novelty of the research lies in justification of the methodological approaches to creation of a new type of cartographic work – an atlas-directory of Kiev region nature reserve fund, its printed and online versions.
