Abstract: 

The purpose of this publication is to summarize the methodological approaches and the results of the analysis and evaluation of landscapes in landscape planning in the context of its perception by a person, which is determined by the diversity, peculiarity and aesthetic attractiveness. The development of landscape-planning decisions to preserve and maintain the value of the landscape as a recreational facility and a component of regional identity is also presented. The methodical approaches to the analysis and evaluation of landscapes in landscape planning are substantiated in order to determine their value (attraction) for recreation of man “in the nature” and to maintain identity. The content of the main evaluation criteria - the diversity and peculiarity of landscapes is explained. The methodical approach of “analysis of spaces”, which is distinguished by the peculiarity of natural conditions, features of the modern landscape, caused by diversity of land use, historical events and the presence of cultural heritage objects in order to determine the differentiation of the territory of planning according to the degree of significance, has been applied. The scheme of analysis and criteria for the assessment of landscapes, illustrated by examples of application at different hierarchical levels of landscape planning, is presented. The approaches to the development of the objectives of preserving and maintaining the diversity and originality of landscapes are substantiated.
