The purpose of the article is to characterise the current development problems of the industrial territories of Kyiv and determine their transformation directions. The grouping of the transformational processes of the cities’ industrial territories was carried out. It has been determined that the orientation of these processes has a destructive, adaptive and progressive (post-industrial) character. Due to the destructive transformations of the industrial territories, the vast areas are occupied by unused and abandoned industrial buildings, technological buildings and other objects. The adaptive transformations of the industrial territories are associated with a complete or partial change of their functions in accordance with the market conditions. It was found that in Kyiv today, this situation is determined by the demand for dwelling, offices, shopping and entertainment centres, etc. It has been established that the transformational processes acquire the progressive character when, as a result of their implementation in the industrial territories are formed the economic objects and their complexes, which are typical for a new higher technological paradigm. In the case of Kyiv, it is about establishments and enterprises that operate on the principles of the 5th and 6th technological paradigm. The methodology for determining the level and characteristics of the post-industrial transformation of industrial territories has been developed and tested on Kyiv. On this basis, their typing was carried out. A detailed analysis of the development of high-tech industries, IT and engineering business, non-productive economic sectors, which ensure the economy efficiency and competitiveness (banking system, audit, consulting and advertising activities, etc.) on the industrial territories of Kyiv has been carried out. It has been established that the post-industrial transformation of the industrial territories of Kiev hasn’t reached the appropriate scale yet. The directions of activation the post-industrial transformation of the city’s industrial areas are determined.
