Abstract: 

The study aims to identify and classify threats to sustainable development of Ukrainian regions with an emphasis on threats with a spatial dimension that, accordingly, allows their cartographic visualization as well as development of methodology for Atlas Information System (ATIS) of threats designing as a part of analytical and informational support for sustainable regional development. AtIS means a problem-oriented information system created as a software-technological tool for solving problems of collecting, storing, processing, analyzing, and presenting information about potential threats to sustainable development of Ukraine at given spatial levels with expanded geovisualization capabilities, spatial statistical analysis, and support for appropriate decision making. Threats which arise on the way of Ukraine’s development concern almost all fields of its functioning. When classifying the threats caused by the system of factors of their occurrence, a sequence of sections of the system has been formed (formation of thematic layers of information and their presentation). The study’s relavance is that the methodology for creating AtIS threats to the development of the country’s regions has been developed for the first time in Ukraine as well as the prototype has been created for the most dangerous man-made threats in Ukraine.
