Abstract: 

The purpose of the study is a scientific substantiation of the database design process (hereinafter DB), which will serve as an information basis for the compilation of an interactive atlas of territories and objects of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine (hereinafter NRFU). The existing experience of GIS and database design in the world and in Ukraine is studied. The conceptual model of geographical data formation is substantiated. To develop an interactive atlas of NRFU and to develop a conceptual, logical and physical structure of database elements in accordance with their management system. The types of sources required for the development and creation of a database of interactive atlas of territories and objects of the NRF are indicated. The structuring of the database, the basic principles of information organization in it are described: ordering, territorial binding, openness of architecture. In addition, the basic requirements for the database are indicated, its main purpose is indicated, the structure of units for filling the database with the necessary information is developed. The novelty of the study lies in the substantiation of the process of development of spatial databases as an information component of a new type of cartographic work - an interactive atlas of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine.
