The present dictates changes in a number of issues related to the socio-political conditions of Ukraine and its regions. Most of the territories are under enormous anthropogenic and psychological pressure due to the military events in Ukraine. Therefore, an important issue in certain regions of Ukraine is the creation of favorable conditions for relaxation to restore a person’s psychological, emotional, and health-improving functions. One of these vectors is recreation in green areas of large and small cities—parks and squares. There are more than 100 parks and squares operating within the city of Chernivtsi today, which arose in different socio-economic eras and serve various recreational functions. Therefore, the purpose of this publication is a spatial analysis of parks and squares in the city of Chernivtsi. The task of the publication is to identify the retrospective features of the creation of parks and squares, their structural characteristics, geographical location, and functional purpose, which is of great practical importance for the recreation of the city’s population. The research focuses on the parks and squares of the city of Chernivtsi. The study examines the historical background and a constructive analysis of the city’s network of parks and squares. Traditional philosophical, disciplinary, and interdisciplinary methods were used to study this issue. Preference was given to the spatial analysis method, which is based on the spatial distribution of parks and squares. Therefore, the study of parks and squares, as recreational and tourist facilities, includes the main elements and features of the functioning of territories of this type. These include recreational infrastructure, the aesthetic value of the territory, recreational load, and suitability for use in tourism and recreation. To create an information database, a recreational and touristic passport was developed that includes 10 main sections with detailed information. Therefore, improving their architectural and aesthetic condition, restoring and renewing certain types of rare plants, and revising the main directions of modern use is the task not only of management bodies and newly created communities, but also of scientists, patriots of the native land, naturalists, and the entire population that strives to preserve the symbiosis of unique complexes.
